On 26 March 2020, the Ministry of Finance of The Bahamas announced a 3-month extension to the deadline for economic substance filing for all entities reporting for the fiscal year 2019. Consequently, all entities that are required to make economic substance filings under the Commercial Entities (Substance Requirements) Act, 2019 which have a financial year-end after 30 June 2019 will now have to file within 12 months of the date of their 2019 fiscal year-end. Any failure to file within this 12 month period will be subject to the usual penalties and any other enforcement provisions of CESRA will be applicable from the 1st day following the expiration of the extended 3 month period.
