In 2019, Johanna J. Mayson was appointed a partner of Glinton Sweeting O’Brien after joining the firm 8 years earlier as a pupil. Her previous experience includes an entrepreneurial background as Vice-President of Hanna-Mayson Ltd. and Co-Owner of Team Xtreme Adventures.

Johanna specialises in real estate property and development, assisting clients with the legal aspects of sales and financing. She has also developed an extensive practice in corporate services, commercial transactions and immigration law.

Johanna is Co-Chairperson, Trustee and Secretary of the Mitchell Ekedede Brain Injury Foundation, a non-profit organization formed in 2013. Johanna is very involved in the Foundation’s efforts to reduce the incidence of Traumatic Brain Injury and Acquired Brain Injury in The Bahamas and to provide brain injury survivors access to essential medical treatment and care, thereby improving the quality of their life.

Johanna has volunteered with The Bahamas National Trust, The Bahamas Humane Society, The Bahamas National Art Gallery and Habitat for Humanity. Johanna has participated in multiple Habitat for Humanity projects in Florida and Kentucky, where over 600 homes were built. On a separate initiative, Johanna, an avid SCUBA diver since she was 9 years old, spent a month in Mexico where she volunteered her time to assist with saving the marine habitat. During her time in Iowa, Johanna also volunteered at the Ause Haugen Home for the Elderly.

Johanna is an accomplished artist and her preferred medium is acrylic, oil and watercolour. She has auctioned some of her work to assist with raising funds for hurricane relief efforts.
