GSO Partner and Head of Litigation Giahna Soles-Hunt was a contributing author for the Supreme Court Civil Procedure Rules, 2022 (CPR) Practice Guide.

The practice guide supports the new CPR, which came into effect in The Bahamas on March 1, 2023 with an aim to improve access to the courts by reducing the cost of civil litigation, simplifying procedural requirements, modernizing outdated terminology, and eliminating unnecessary complexities in the litigation process.

During the Opening of the Legal Year, as he thanked attorneys and judges who contributed to the practice guide, Chief Justice Sir Ian Winder noted that the document will assist judges and practitioners during the transition into the “new civil justice regime”.

As a contributor, Soles-Hunt has helped to provide valuable insight and guidance to those working within the Bahamian legal system as we move forward with a new set of rules and procedures that we anticipate will go a long way towards modernizing and increasing efficiency within Bahamian courts.

Soles-Hunt, who joined GSO in 2019, has over a decade of experience in civil, commercial and trust litigation. In addition to her litigation practice, she also advises clients on solvent liquidations, litigious issues arising from commercial agreements, and on compliance and regulatory requirements within the financial services industry.
