Glinton Sweeting O’Brien (GSO) is proud to announce that Giahna Soles-Hunt has been made a Partner in the firm, leading its litigation group.

Giahna joined GSO in 2019 after a decade of valuable litigation experience at two leading law firms in The Bahamas. Her civil and commercial litigation expertise includes insolvent liquidations, employment disputes, land disputes, professional negligence, medical malpractice, personal injuries, fatal accidents and insurance; she is also developing her practice in trust litigation. In addition to her litigation practice, Giahna advises clients on solvent liquidations and complex issues arising from commercial development.

Giahna was called to the Bahamas Bar in 2008 and holds an LLB (Hons) from the University of The West Indies in Barbados. She has a Legal Education Certificate from the Eugene Dupuch Law School in The Bahamas and a Bachelor of Science in Finance and International Studies (Hons) from Pennsylvania State University in the United States. Her certifications include taxation, advanced Alternative Dispute Resolution/Mediation and Financial Literacy and Corporate Governance.

In her spare time, Giahna is engaged with the local community. She has taught literacy skills to adults and is an associate tutor at the Eugene Dupuch Law School. She is a member of the Bahamas National Trust, and through her work with the Bahamas Chamber of Commerce and Employers’ Confederation, she aims to influence environmental policies that help to preserve the natural beauty of The Bahamas. Giahna is also a supporter of the local visual and performing arts community.

Giahna is GSO’s fourth female partner, demonstrating a commitment to gender diversity within the firm. Since joining GSO, she has established a track record of providing innovative client solutions and deepened the firm’s expertise in litigation.

“We believe GSO’s continued growth will come from a diverse team of progressive, energetic, world-class legal talent who are among the best that The Bahamas has to offer,” said Bryan Glinton, managing partner at GSO. “As our newest partner, Giahna not only represents our dedication to strengthening the firm for the future but also continues the GSO tradition of helping to strengthen our community through education, the arts, and environmental preservation. The entire firm extends its congratulations to Giahna on her promotion and looks forward to her future contributions to the legal profession.”
