Melinda S. Bacchus-Maynard joined Glinton Sweeting O’Brien in 2006 after gaining 6 years of valuable commercial and real estate experience at two local law firms.

Melinda specialises in residential and commercial property transactions including acquisitions and financing. She has developed an extensive foreign direct investment practice, acting on behalf of developers to liase with government officials to obtain the necessary permits and approvals for a varied size of development projects.

Melinda’s diverse practice also includes corporate transactions, probate applications, immigration applications, custom duty amendments, and Value Added Tax law.

Melinda holds an LLB from the University of Leeds, and attended the bar vocational course at BPP Law School in London. She was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 2001.

Melinda is presently on the Board of Directors for Hands for Hunger and Popop Center for the Visual Arts. She is passionate about showcasing Bahamian talent and enabling young artists to be successful through Popop’s scholarships and grants, and also exposure with trips to other art galleries. Melinda also assists Hands for Hunger with their fundraising efforts and aligns herself with the organization’s goals to alleviate suffering caused by hunger, and encourage healthy eating and living.

Melinda has also been a member of The Bahamas Heart Foundation. She has taken part in several initiatives over the past few years and enjoyed seeing the results of the foundation’s hard work to help young children in critical need of heart transplants.
