Glinton Sweeting O’Brien (GSO) is proud to announce Elton L. Gibson as the newest member of its team. He joins the firm as an Associate in the Financial Services Department.
Elton has earned both an LL. B and LL.M from the University of The West Indies in Corporate and Commercial Law and obtained his Certificate of Legal Education from the Eugene Dupuch Law School. In 2007, he was called to The Bahamas Bar.
A former public service regulator, Elton brings valuable experience in commercial offshore financing, domestic and foreign portfolio transactions. He has a heightened appreciation for regulations and policies pertaining to cross-border transactions and the effects on clients’ personal and commercial portfolios. During his legal career, he has also practiced in the areas of probate and estates as well as administration conveyancing.
“Elton has a sharp legal mind and brings a wealth of experience to GSO, having served as legal counsel both in private law practice and with the government. Notably, Elton served as Senior Exchange Control Officer at the Central Bank during his past 6 years in practice, where he honed his skills managing sophisticated, time-sensitive matters. Elton adds great depth to our legal team and we welcome his contributions”, stated managing partner, Andrew O’Brien.
Elton is a member of the Financial Service Group, an emerging committee of the Bahamas Bar Association, whose core objective is to improve the delivery of financial services through education and discussion.
The entire firm joins in extending a warm welcome to Elton!
